"The Government's National Languages Strategy recognises the importance of early language learning; by 2010 all children at Key Stage 2 (7-11 years) should have the opportunity to study a foreign language.However, the earlier a child starts to learn another language the better and that is why the Nuffield Foundation is pleased to support this initiative which focuses on pre-school and infant age learning of Russian. We hope not only that the AZBUKA project will enthuse families and prove a useful resource for those interested in bilingual learning, but that it will be a successful model for use with other languages. We wish this innovative project every success."
